Vera Jane Cozad-Buffalomeat

Vera Jane Cozad-Buffalomeat, 85 of Carnegie, Oklahoma, passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022, in Carnegie, Oklahoma. She was born on February 5, 1936, to Ray Cozad and Carrie Ahhaitty.

She is survived by daughters, Sharon Pena and Jeanette Standing, both of Carnegie; Ernestine Berryhill and Donna Jane Geionety and her husband, Ricky, both of Mountain View, OK and

Lenora Cozad of Ada, OK, and sons: Lawrence Buffalomeat and Raymond Buffalomeat, both of Geary, OK; brothers, Gerald Cozad and Lewis Cozad, both of Mountain View, OK, Andrew Cozad of Denver, CO, Leonard Cozad, Jr. of Oklahoma City, OK, Daniel Cozad, Vernon Cozad, and Charles Cozad, all of Anadarko, OK, Russell Cozad of Farmington, New Mexico, Anthony Ahhaitty Carnegie, OK , Aaron Ahhaitty of Mountain View, OK and Dwayne Kodaseet of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by sisters, Karen Pewo and Kathleen Pewenofkit, both of Anadarko, OK and Victoria Ahhaitty of Carnegie, OK; as well as an aunt, Nona Kodaseet of Carnegie, OK ; and grandchildren, Katie Guill, Lisa Pocowatchit-Stingley, Elvin Berryhill, Rikki Cozad, Candi Berryhill, Randy Whitewolf, Shellie Cozad, Kellie Chasenah, Thomas Berryhill and Leslie Standing, and numerous great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laverne Buffalomeat; daughter, Marla Cooper Redbone; grandchildren, Adawnya Geionety Yellowhair, Ivan Evans, Ricky Pocowatchit, and Chandra Berryhill; brothers, George Ray Cozad, James Cozad, Larry Cozad, Joseph Cozad, and Thomas Roughface Sr.; sisters, Naomi Cozad Svitak, Marie Cozad Moses, Ora Cozad Charcoal, May Cozad Tawkoyty and Beverly Cozad.

Pallbearers included Elvin Berryhill, Randy Whitewolf, Thomas Berryhill, Leslie Standing, Jonas Cozad, Evan Cozad, Ricky Geionety and David Geimausaddle. Honorary pallbearers were Brandon Yellowhair, Jeremy Yellowhair, Elijah Guill, Justen Guill, Jakoby Guill, Jaycen Yeahquo, Nalijah Ripley, Troy Labrada, Jon Guill, Anthony Yellowhair, Todd Stingley and Shane Cozad.

The family requested everyone in attendance to wear masks.

Visitation was from 1-8 p.m. on Sunday, January 16, 2022 and from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 18, 2022. At Ceder Creek United Methodist Church, Carnegie, OK.

Funeral services were under the direction of Ray & Martha's Funeral Home, Carnegie, OK.
